Abstract
This paper examines the political effects of British colonial rule on Ogbomoso’s local administration between 1900 and 1960.British colonial policies and administrative structures significantly altered traditional
political system, creating new power dynamics and undermining local autonomy. This study reveals how indirect rule, hierarchical administration, and colonial interests continue to shape Ogbomoso’s
political structures, decision-making processes, community relationship. This paper obtained its data from primary and secondary sources including books, journals and archival documents. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of colonialism’s enduring impact on local governance in Nigeria and beyond.
